Manchester Skull Base Surgery Course
21 Mar 2022
The Manchester weather may have been wet and windy, but that did not dampen the spirits of the delegates and faculty attending the first Manchester Skull Base course of 2022.
The Manchester Skull Base Surgery Course was a huge success for all attendees across the 5 days at the MSSSC facility. It was fantastic for the course to take place in 2022, following the reopening of the world-class training centre. Under expert training, it offered an incredible opportunity for skill development within anterior, central and lateral skull base surgery.
Day 1 and 2– Approaches to the Middle and Posterior Fossa
Day 3– Open Approaches to the Anterior Skull Base and Orbit
Day 4– Endoscopic Approaches to the Anterior Skull Base
Day 5– Infratemporal Fossa and Transfacial Approaches
The teaching, interactive practice surgery and excellent equipment available throughout the week enabled hugely beneficial outcomes, including a boost in surgical knowledge and deeper insight into the correct approach required in different circumstances.
A big thank-you goes to the course organiser Simon Lloyd, and to all the faculty and delegates for attending; it really was a great week, and we look forward to working with you all again on future courses.
The Manchester Skull Base Unit has a long history of running skull base surgery courses. The first course was run by Professor Ramsden and Mr Dutton in 1983. For more information on the Manchester Skull Base unit click here.
